Willow Run Class 1+

There is a section of the Calapooia where the rich loamy soils along the banks is deep and Willows thrive. At this time of year the Catkins are blossoming. This is a fairly short local paddle to enjoy the sights of spring. This section of the Calapooia is fairly docile and suitable for learners. Launch and takeout is primitive and can be muddy after rains. The Calapooia is woody, a paddler will need control skills to remain clear of the wood with light current. Water is cold this time of year so dry suits are recommended. Plan your shuttle to be Covid safe, it may require driving multiple vehicles (I coined it anti-carpooling) The paddle is about 4 miles length and should be about 2 hours. Register for this paddle on the WKCC website to receive an Email with details about the launch and takeout. (registration activates your WKCC insurance)
