WKCC General Meeting: Canoeing the Upper Stikine

The Fall General Meeting will be held at the Old World Deli in Corvallis.  We will gather at 7:00 pm to grab a bite to eat and/or a delicious beverage.  At 7:30 a short business meeting will take place which will include the election of 4 Board positions which are open.  This will be followed by the slide presentation entitled:  "Canoeing the Upper Stikine." (See description below.) There may even be a sneak preview of the film "Awakening the Skeena".

 

Jonathan Walpole and Jenny Johnson will give a presentation of their 300 km wilderness canoe journey down the upper Stikine River in Northern British Columbia. After being dropped off by float plane in the alpine tundra of the headwaters, they lined, paddled, and portaged their canoe down the Stikine from its beginnings as a small mountain stream to its crossing of the Cassiar Highway where it enters the Grand Canyon of the Stikine as a mighty river. They will attempt to share the experience of their journey and give a glimpse of the area's outstanding natural beauty.
