Log at False Ricochet ~ Bruno Mtn. Run ~N Santiam above Reservoir
The log at False Ricochet Rapid (1/4 mile below Bruno Mtn. Rd. bridge) is still there as of November 27. It is about 2 feet in diameter. Our WKCC group decided to put in just below the log. There's a big turnout on the highway there (Milepost 59.3) and a good put-in area. The log could be passed by paddling the right channel at higher flows, but it was too rocky to paddle the right channel at 750 cfs. Paddling the middle channel, then moving right at the end of the drop would also be a possibility, but it would be risky and would take perfect boat control. None of us wanted to risk it. One could also land on river right above the drop and portage along the rocks there at this low flow. However, it seemed silly to put in at Bruno Mtn Rd., paddle 2 minutes, then portage the log, especially when there was a perfectly good put-in just below the log.
Everyone should be sure to scout this drop from the highway and look at the log before committing to the drop.

Be safe and scout. And by the way, this run at 750 cfs is really fun, rather technical but it channelizes nicely. Many good surf waves. :-)
