The next WKCC General Membership meeting will be held at the Old World Deli, 341 SW 2nd St. #4 in Corvallis. We'll sit down together, grab a bite of dinner, talk about the summer past, coax our wayward members back into the fold, pray for rain, and plan for the Fall and Winter boating. At 8 p,m, we will be treated to guest speaker, Brad Bassi with a dynamic and highly acclaimed presentation on The Hubbard Memorial Expedition.
One hundred years after a trio of explorers starved to death in the wilds of Labrador, a team of paddlers followed in their footsteps. Along the way many twists and turns on and off the water connected the team to the original expedition in ways they could never have imagined. Come learn about this fascinating saga through the pictures and stories of Brad Bassi, team member on the 2003 expedition, which covered over 600 miles in 50 days. Starvation, a pioneering woman explorer, jealousy, love, and lots and lots of mosquitoes all make their way into this most incredible tale. This promises to be a talk you won't want to miss.
